How Acupuncture Works

Fine needles are inserted into the patient to stimulate the body’s own healing response to help restore its natural balance. The main aim of acupuncture is to treat the whole person and recover the equilibrium between the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the individual.

Acupuncture is considered suitable for all ages and can be used effectively alongside conventional medicine. To enhance the treatment, where appropriate, electro acupuncture can be used by the practitioner where a small electric current is passed between pairs of acupuncture needles. Cupping techniques in which local suction is created on the skin may also be used where appropriate.
